A look back

The company Maschinenfabrik Spaichingen, today known as MS, was founded in 1965 and, only one year later, had made a name for itself as a mechanical engineer for the textile industry. Its expertise in the field of ultrasonic technology already dates back more than 20 years. Good work has become a tradition – and we want to continue it.

1965

The Maschinenfabrik Spaichingen GmbH is founded by the Mayer family of entrepreneurs in Albstadt.

1966

Production of circular knitting machines begins. It ends abruptly due to a relocation of production in 1974.

1974

Instead of circular knitting machines, automatic sock machines are now produced – until 1984. The connection with the textile industry remains intact.

1984

The year 1984 marked the beginning of the rise of today's MS Powertrain Technology Group from an "extended workbench" to one of the world's recognized manufacturing technology partners for powertrain systems and components.

1985

From now until 1996, in contract manufacturing for IBM Germany, multilayer ceramic circuits (printed circuit technology) are manufactured. This includes precision machining under cleanroom conditions.

1994

With the production of the first rocker arms and valve bridges for MAN and Mercedes-Benz, the automotive industry is added as an important customer segment.

1997

In order to expand sales and service for the US 'Freightliner' brand of the Daimler Trucks umbrella brand, a new production site is being built in Fowlerville, Michigan (USA).

2005

The order to produce the entire camshaft housing for the Daimler-Benz "world engine" DDC/HDEP marks a key milestone in the history of the engine technology division. Production starts just one year later.

2008

The company, and also the welding technology division, is acquired by the then GCI, today's MS Industrie AG.

2009

Establishment of the Zittau production site (MS PowerTec GmbH) for production in the field of ''engine technology. In 2011 the second structural expansion will take place.

2011

The activities of today's MS Spaichingen GmbH and MS Industries Inc. are shifted to the "Schweißtechnik" and "Motorentechnik" divisions.

2012

he Maschinenfabrik Spaichingen is changing its name and will be known from now on as MS Spaichingen GmbH.

2013

MS Industries Inc. moves within Michigan, from Fowlerville to Webberville.

2014

MS Schweißtechnik and MS Motorentechnik become the MS Ultrasonic Technology Group and the MS Powertrain Technology Group.

2015

The MS Spaichingen GmbH - and thus the MS Ultrasonic Technology Group – switch location to the neighboring Trossingen/Schura. A new era begins.

2016

Renaming of MS Spaichingen GmbH into MS Powertrain Technologie GmbH and MS Ultraschall Technologie GmbH as independent representatives of the respective division.
